Dr. Tenzin Choephel represented Tibetan Scientific Society for the second time at the annual Machik Weekend that was held recently in New York City from November 9-11, 2018. Machik Weekend is organized by Machik, a U.S.-based non-profit, non-governmental organisation that incubates social innovation in Tibet. Their work focuses on five main areas: The Chungba Project, Women's Initiatives, Summer Enrichment Program, Social Entrepreneurship, Youth Leadership, and Governance

According to the event website, "Machik Weekend is a Tibetan Ideas Festival through which to share and learn about creating global pathways for Tibet.  Machik convenes path-breaking service workers, dynamic leaders and resilient communities who care passionately about Tibet and its future.". STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) is a topic that has been highlighted by Machik beginning Machik Weekend 2017. Dr. Choephel was one of the four panelists in this year's STEAM panel. Apart from the panel discussion, Choephel led a hands-on workshop that involved learning about flight mechanics and making paper airplanes/gliders. Participants were grouped into several teams to create their prototypes. At the end, they competed among each other, with the winner decided based on whichever team flew their plane the farthest (maximum range). The following are some of the moments captured during Machik Weekend 2018.
